With climate change and urbanization processes, intensifying heat stress has been increasing the importance of climatic comfort important for outdoor activities. This study evaluates monthly and daily climatic comfort conditions in Çanakkale using Tourism Climate Index (TCI) and Holiday Climate Index (HCI) based on temperature, humidity, wind speed, sunshine duration, and precipitation data from 1975 to 2022. Long-term trends in climatic comfort were assessed using Kendall Tau-b and Pearson correlation tests. Green spaces are areas where outdoor activities in cities are densely concentrated and which positively influence climatic comfort. By evaluating the green space inventory of Çanakkale Municipality, the supportive role of green space capacity in climatic comfort was discussed. Results indicate that May, June, and September exhibit “Good–Excellent–Ideal” comfort levels, whereas January and December show only “Unfavourable–Marginal–Acceptable” conditions. Increasing summer temperatures and humidity significantly reduce comfort. The rise in the number of comfortable days over the past 30 years is associated with regional warming. Although the expansion of ideal days in the 2020s appears positive, growing urbanization may degrade future comfort conditions. Over the last 20 years, the city’s population increased by 76%, while total green-space area grew by only 4.4%, leading to a 40% decline in per-capita green space. Although small- and medium-scale green spaces have been prioritized to improve accessibility within the city, expanding large green areas is crucial for supporting climatic comfort and ecosystem services.

Ýklim deðiþikliði ve kentleþmenin etkisiyle artan ýsý stresi, kentsel dýþ ortam etkinliklerinde klimatik konforun önemini artýrmaktadýr. Bu çalýþma, Çanakkale’de 1975–2022 dönemine ait sýcaklýk, nem, rüzgâr, güneþlenme ve yaðýþ verilerini kullanarak aylýk ve günlük klimatik konfor koþullarýný Turizm Ýklim Ýndisi (TCI) ve Tatil Ýklim Ýndisi (HCI) ile deðerlendirmektedir. Klimatik konfordaki uzun dönem eðilimler Kendall Tau-b ve Pearson korelasyon testleriyle analiz edilmiþtir. Yeþil alanlar, kentlerde dýþ ortam etkinliklerinin yoðun bir þekilde yapýldýðý ve klimatik konfora olumlu etki eden alanlardýr. Çanakkale Belediyesi yeþil alan envanteri deðerlendirilerek, yeþil alan kapasitesinin klimatik konforu destekleyici etkisi tartýþýldý. Çalýþma bulgularýna göre Mayýs, Haziran ve Eylül aylarý “Ýyi–Mükemmel–Ýdeal” konfor düzeylerine sahipken; Ocak ve Aralýk aylarýnda yalnýzca “Elveriþsiz–Marjinal–Kabul Edilebilir” koþullar görülmektedir. Yaz aylarýnda sýcaklýk ve nemin birlikte artmasý konforu belirgin biçimde düþürmektedir. Son 30 yýlda konforlu gün sayýlarýndaki artýþ, kentteki ýsýnma eðilimiyle iliþkilidir. 2020’li yýllarda ideal günlerin geniþlemesi olumlu görünse de, artan kentleþme yoðunluðu gelecekte konforu olumsuz etkileyebilir. Nitekim son 20 yýlda nüfus %76 artarken, yeþil alan büyüklüðü yalnýzca %4,4 artmýþ; kiþi baþýna düþen yeþil alan ise %40 azalmýþtýr. Kent ölçeðinde eriþilebilirliði artýrmak adýna küçük-orta ölçekli yeþil alanlara aðýrlýk verilse de, klimatik konfor ve ekosistem hizmetlerinin desteklenmesi bakýmýndan büyük yeþil alanlarýn artýrýlmasý önemlidir
